Obituary for Carson H. Hartwig

Carson H. Hartwig, age 15 of Darlington, WI passed away March 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with Osteosarcoma. He was born November 15, 2004 the son of Heath and Jamie (Acherman) Hartwig. Carson spent his entire life in Darlington where he was a freshman at Darlington High School.
Carson was so many wonderful things..

A goofball buddy! He loved being with his friends playing video games, Family Feud, and Catchprase to watching Star Wars, Stranger Things, and The Office. Carson was always keeping up his streaks on Snapchat with his pals. And those silly kids could always find trouble together, whether it be breaking gas station smoothie machines or TP-ing and getting caught (but not running away).

A hard worker! He was involved in so many things from theater, band, choir, every sport, and multiple talent shows. He was an honor roll student, even through his treatments. Carson shined on the math team and at solo ensemble. His competitive spirit was always second to none.

An amazing athlete! Carson loved sports right from the start – from watching Sandlot a million times to cheering on his favorite bandwagon teams like the LA Dodgers, Philadelphia Eagles, Golden State Warriors, and Kentucky Wildcats! He cried when he lost but it was because he always gave it 100%. Even during treatment, he scored a 3-pointer and hit some great balls and made a lot of catches.

The best brother and son ever! Carson was the “middle” child and it showed. He was the best at knowing how to pick on his siblings, from sticking his stinky feet in your face or farting out everyone in the car. But he was the best teammate during living room football, basketball, and wiffle ball. He wasn’t much of a hugger but you could always see how much he loved you in his beautiful blue eyes and fun words.

The best kid ever! Carson was the most easy going, competitive, funny, independent kid you would have ever met. He was also the messiest with food on his face and dirt on his clothes. He was never embarrassed to stand out. Silly socks and crazy hats were his clothing of choice. He went through some stuff no child should ever have to experience, but through it all he was strong, tough, and full of faith and hope. He is truly an inspiration to his family, friends, and community alike. Carson and his strength will be truly missed and fondly remembered.

Carson is survived by his parents: Heath and Jamie Hartwig of Darlington; his siblings: James, Catherine “Catie” and Grady Hartwig all at home; his grandparents: James Acherman of Calamine, WI, and Joe and Rhonda Hartwig of South Wayne, WI; his aunts and uncles: Joey Hartwig, Haley and Gethan Larse, Jessie and Dan Belanger, Theresa Acherman (Lars Mittmann), Tammy and Jeff Zeller; his cousins: Rogan, Preslee “ZuZu”, Easton, and Ryker Larse, DJ, Matthew, and Payton Belanger, Emily and Julie Zeller; and his special friend: Cayla Golackson. He was preceded in death by his grandmother: Shirley Acherman.
