Obituary

Sondra “Soni” K. Wolfe, age 82, of Darlington, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025 surrounded by her family’s love. She was born on January 2,1943, in Darlington to John and Lenice (Hughes) Larson. She graduated from Darlington High School in the Class of 1961. On June 30, 1972, she was united in marriage to Leon Wolfe. Together, they raised their four children, Dave, Chris, Niki, and Aaron, on their farm in Lamont Township. Soni was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, gardener, and homemaker. When not caring for her children, she was finding ways to better her community. She served as western director for Home & Community Education (HCE). Through this, she visited the Darlington Elementary Middle School to read for the children. She was also a 4-H leader and a Lafayette County Master Gardener. For years she took responsibility for organizing the gardens along the Pecatonica River Trail. She was happiest spending her days kneeling in her garden taking care of her flowers and plants. She was most proud of having plants named for each of her loved ones. Though it surely pained her to cut her flowers, she never said no when the grandchildren wanted to make bouquets. Soni lived life in full color. From her illustrious garden to her large collection of clothing and jewelry, everything about her was vibrant. She shared this love with friends and family through handmade gifts of all varieties. Her loved ones were often gifted with one-of-a-kind Soni pieces so they could live life as brightly as she did. She was never fully dressed without fingers full of rings, a pair of dangly earrings, and a statement necklace. Even at the end, she remained the same spunky woman she was all her life. The home she lived in with Leon for more than 50 years is another piece of Soni's artwork. Her touch is evident in every facet of the home. Though the world will be dimmer without her, she leaves behind a lifetime of bright memories. Soni leaves behind her devoted husband of 52 years, Leon; four children: David (Pam) Wolfe of Eau Claire, Christopher (Robin Coomber) Wolfe of Darlington, Nicole (Kevin) Murphy of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and Aaron (Cristina) Wolfe of Darlington; 12 grandchildren: Nick (Lena) Anderson, Cheyenne (Patrick) Roche, Lilly (Trent) Nyffenegger, Dakota Wolfe, Jacob Summerhayes, Tyler and Samantha Murphy, Ian, Evander, Elizabeth, Rose, and Arya Wolfe; four great-grandchildren: Tallulah, Hortensia, and Zevon Anderson, Gannin Nyffenegger, and Baby Girl Roche expected in July; sister Paula (Gary) Radl, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Jack, David, Dwayne, and Keith Larson; in-laws Tony and Frances; and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were longed for but died before birth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH (Our Lady of Fatima Parish), 106 E. Harriet St., Darlington, with Fr. Chris Gernetzke officiating. Burial will follow at Lamont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 pm - 7 pm on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at ERICKSON FUNERAL HOME, 508 Park Place, Darlington, and again prior to the funeral mass from 10-10:45 am on Wednesday prior to the funeral at the church. A family remembrance will also be shared prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers and plants, our family would love you to make a donation to something close to your heart in memory of Soni. We wish to express our deep gratitude to the caregivers and nurses who helped Soni throughout the years and especially to the staff of Upland Hills who made our last time together comfortable and meaningful.
