Robert Sutherland

Robert B. Sutherland, age 88, of rural Blanchardville, WI, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his home. He was born May 27, 1936, in Richland County, Wisconsin the son of Wilson and Norma (Brown) Sutherland. Bob grew up on the family farm in Sylvan Township. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Smith on October 22, 1960, at Viola United Methodist Church in Viola. In 1969, Bob and Marie purchased a farm in Argyle Township where they lived the remainder of their lives. Bob retired in 1999, when they sold the dairy herd. It was then that Bob was able to focus on his hobby and love of collecting and restoring antique John Deere tractors.

Bob is survived by his children: Robert (Karen) Sutherland, Jr. of Argyle, Diane (Brian) Mundt of Argyle, Ann (Don Andrews) DeNure of rural Darlington, WI, Marlene (Marco) Flannery, Julie (Dennis) Flannery both of rural Argyle, and ; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Alderman and Linda Chamberlain both of Viola, WI; a brother-in-law: Arden Mills; two sisters-in-law: Kate Smith and Janice Wilder, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rose "Marie",and his siblings; Ardith Sutherland, Marlene Jasperson, Donna Lawler, Jeanine Mahoney, Eston Sutherland, Norma Mills, and Ronald Sutherland in infancy.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army for 2 years and was stationed in Korea during peacetime. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren when they visited. Bob loved to joke around and was always quick to give anyone a hard time.

Over the years Bob and Marie had many adventures especially with horse racing, playing cards as a family, bowling and Sunday dinners. In his younger years he enjoyed coon hunting with friends and whether it was good or bad he loved a good DIY project along with tinkering in the garage.

Per Bob's wishes, no services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at a later date on the farm. A private family graveside service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle at a later date as well. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
