Ann G. Stocker-Doverspike, age 90 of Madison, WI formerly of Shullsburg, WI passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. She was born July 27, 1928 in Marquette, MI the daughter of Mark and Evelyn (Vetefeuille) DuShane. Ann grew up in Marquette and graduated from Marquette High School in Michigan in 1946. She was united in marriage to Arthur R. Stocker in 1951. She moved to Milwaukee, WI in the late 1940’s and later to Montebello, CA in the early 1960’s. In the early 1970’s she and Art moved to Shullsburg where together they owned and operated the Shullsburg Creamery. Ann managed the Shullsburg Cheese Store. Art preceded Ann in death on September 20, 1990. She later married Dale E. Doverspike in February 1998 and moved to Sun City, AZ. Upon Dale’s failing health they moved to Tennessee. Dale passed on April 12, 2011. Ann then moved to Madison where she has resided since.
Ann is survived by her children: Scott (Susan) Stocker of Darlington, WI, Leslie (David) Wynthein of Arlington, IA, Kathryn (Edmund) Wichman of Delavan, WI, and Arthur William “Bill” (Raquel) Stocker II of Gratiot, WI; two step-children: Ann Williams of Murfeesboro, TN and Rob Doverspike of Rio Rancho, NM; 11 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; and many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
Ann was a past member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg. She was a fabulous knitter and an avid reader of historical fiction. Ann cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren creating memories they will all remember forever. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 5:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Rev. Russ Paul of Community Evangelical Free Church in rural Shullsburg officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
