Irene M. Frechette, age 74 of rural Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. She was born March 20, 1946 in Long Island, NY the daughter of Collin and Florence (Matulis) Hall. Irene was united in marriage to Eugene "Dick" Frechette on November 21, 1964 in Chicago, IL. Irene worked for Microswitch in Warren, IL for 30 years. She was currently working at the Super 8/Darlington Inn in Darlington. Irene is survived by her husband Dick at home; one son: Greg Frechette of Darlington; a special daughter: Nicole Frechette of Darlington; two grandchildren: Kaelin and Michael Frechette both of Darlington; and one sister: Rosemary Johnson of Bloomington, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother-in-law: Ken Johnson. Irene was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. She enjoyed shopping, doing arts and crafts, and sewing. She loved to decorate her house for every holiday and season and had a soft spot in her heart for animals of all kinds. Irene cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and the memories they created together. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Irene's name.

Hello Dick, I’m so so sorry my Friend. Your wife was way to young for this to happed my Friend. It appears that this happened very sudden and unexpected. I cherish all of the time we spent at Atwood’s. I think about you from time to time and I was always going to call you and come up to visit with you and you wife. I would still like to come and visit with you after everything calms down and your ready to visit again. All I need is your address and phone number please? Once again I’m so sorry for your loss. We met Dick and Irene soon after they came to WI from Chicago. They rented a house from us and we became very good friends. Farm life was new to them so it was exciting to see how they adapted. Irene was always so joyous and eager to learn and try new things. We grew to love them both very much. Irene was very creative in everything she did whether it was cooking or creating some beautiful works of art. Irene was a very hard working lady. She loved her family and her animals and that was evident by how she cared for them. We are deeply sorry for your loss, Dick. May God be your strength and hope. Dick my deepest sympathy for the loss of your wife of 56 yrs. To the rest of the family my heart felt sympathy. A memory of having worked with Irene for over 20 yrs. When I started to work at Micro Switch Irene had gorgeous long hair. One day she came to work with her hair cut very short & styled. She looked great as always but really took us all by surprise!
