George Mulcahy

George P. Mulcahy, age 86 of Darlington, WI passed away Sunday, October 24. 2021 at Edenbrook of Platteville in Platteville, WI. He was born June 26, 1935 in Fayette Township in Lafayette County, WI the son of Timothy and Sarah (McDonald) Mulcahy. George grew up in the Darlington area and worked on the home farm with his father until it was sold. He graduated from Darlington High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked several jobs, including working at Iroquois Foundry in Browntown, WI, then spent 20 years at the Lafayette County Highway Department in Darlington before seasonally working at Lands End in Dodgeville and one season at Swiss Colony in Monroe, WI. George is survived by his nieces and nephews: Richard (Diane) Mulcahy, Diane (Pete) Conway, Patty Mulcahy, John (Tammy) Mulcahy, and Robert (Joy) Burns; many great-nieces-and-nephews; and his best friend: Jim Fitzpatrick. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Mike Mulcahy; two sisters: Sister Maureen Mulcahy OSB and Sister Carmen Mulcahy OSB; and his nephews and niece: Don Mulcahy, and Alice and Patrick Mulcahy in infancy.George was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in rural Blanchardville, WI and was baptized into the Christian Community there. He later became a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington where he was a member of their Knights of Columbus. He had a soft spot in his heart for two very talented singers - Rosalie Huntington and Ron Kittleson, who he always enjoyed listening to throughout the years. George enjoyed hunting deer with his friends, collecting die cast toy cars, was an antique tractor enthusiast, and loved taking pictures of old barns. He always looked forward to attending Antique Days at the Lafayette County Fair Grounds. George enjoyed Farm Progress Days in many different states and attended tractor shows in Indiana and Iowa. He was an avid sports fan - always cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and listening to as many area high school football games as he could. George will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St, Darlington). A visitation will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a rosary being prayed at 3:30 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until 10:15 at the church. A private family burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in rural Blanchardville at a later date. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
