Miss you Dave

Jose I always called David-Dave. When I first moved to Madison in 1985 working for Goodwill as a job developer. EATA was right around the corner in the Washington Square Building. I needed to go to EATA. The first person I met was Dave. I was treated by Dave like I knew him my whole life. Dave helped me through the years. If Dave did not the answer, which was seldom, Dave would find someone. I am forever thankful & grateful to Dave. Loved that guy

Dave always disliked not being addressed as David. He would always correct me and say his given name was David. He rarely addressed me as Joe because he said my given name was Jose. For about 53 years we had weekly chats about so many things when we were in the Army and after our military service. He even visited me in El Paso, Texas around the mid-1970s and met my family and we went to a football game when the UTEP Miners played the New Mexico State Aggies in the Sun Bowl. He enjoyed the food, culture and the wild west of El Paso. He was so knowledgeable in history, and we would talk about the history of the world, family and so many other things. He never ran out of stories to tell. While he never got to meet my wife, Marta, they both shared the same date of birth, but 10 years apart. He would send her recipes, and she enjoyed receiving little notes attached to the cookbooks. While so many miles separated us, our friendship stayed close. I miss my good friend, but our prayers are that you will rest in peace until the Day of Rapture. As long as your memory stays alive, you will still "be around." From what I know about you, a caring and solid person, you led a good life. Adios, my friend...you are already missed. (The Rocha Family)
