LaVon Chambers

LaVon E. Chambers, age 83 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born August 7, 1937 in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Adin and Nellie (Williams) Olson. LaVon grew up in Lone Rock, WI area where she graduated from Lone Rock High School. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, David J. Chambers on June 9, 1959 at Fairview Lutheran Church.LaVon is survived by her husband David at home; six children: Deanna (Gerald) Taylor, Wendy (Wayne) Jelle, Michael (Kate) Chambers, Cynthia (Patrick) Myers, Rebecca (Jeff) Grundahl, and Cheryl (Rick) Loken; her grandchildren: Robert Delk, Amanda (Steve) Pennekamp, Tricia (Tom) Ostby, James Delk, Heather Taylor, Justin Taylor, Daryl (Nicole) Jelle, Nick (Nita) Jelle, Travis Jelle, Amy Jelle, Cassidy (Addam) Rouse, Clara Chambers, Tom Myers, and Jacob Myers; Teisha Grundahl, Jeremy Grundahl, Amber Grundahl, Cheyanne Grundahl, Ciara Grundahl; Katie Loken, Kane Loken; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother: William Olson; and one sister: Eudelma Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Ruth Olson and Eileen Olson; and two brothers: Richard and Virgil Olson.LaVon was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington. She cherished her grandchildren and always enjoyed attending their sporting and music events. LaVon loved tending to her bird and flower gardens, sewing, teaching the family how to sew, and making grandma's homemade bread and teaching it to others. LaVon had a soft spot for animals, especially for cats and dogs. She always made sure to feed her cats and made sure the dog stayed away, though she did enjoy greeting the dog. LaVon was passionate about music, playing the piano, organ, accordion, and was a very talented singer. She was also an avid sports fan, always watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger games.A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Darlington with Rev. Kate Kieckhafer of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington and Rev. Nick J. McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington co-officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. at First Baptist Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
