Helen Furrer

Helen R. Furrer, age 88 of Monroe, WI formerly of Darlington, WI passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Community Living House in Monroe. She was born February 7, 1933 in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Simon and Rose Mary (Mueller) Furrer. Helen grew up in rural Darlington until her senior year of High School when her and her family moved to Mineral Point, WI to farm. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in Mineral Point in 1951. Following High School Helen lived in Darlington until moving to Monroe. She worked at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe as a cook for many years until her retirement.Helen is survived by her cousins: Norman (Catherine) Mueller of Monroe, Anne Gratz of Platteville, WI, Arvilla Mueller of Mineral Point, WI; Ruth McGettigan and Linda Argall; two cousin-in-laws; Virginia Ryser of New Glarus, WI and Agnes Ryser of Blanchardville, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her cousins: Fred Ryser, Werner Ryser, Walter (Sonny) Schwartz, Wilma Hannie, and Lois Zaffino; and one cousin-in-law: Robert Gratz.Helen grew up in Wisconsin but was a true Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan at heart. She had a knack for taking care of and loving all types of animals. Helen will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 at the church.
