Francis H. "Fritz" Lancaster, age 85 of Wiota, WI, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at Monroe Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. He was born February 4, 1936 in Darlington, WI, the son of Harlow and Martha (Wenger) Lancaster. Fritz grew up in Darlington. In 1954, he joined the United States Air Force and honorably discharged in 1958. Fritz served in Germany, England, and Turkey. Following his return home, he worked at Donahoe's Mobil in Darlington, then at Eastwood Brothers Farm in Wiota, and last at Kelly Springfield, where he retired from after 35 years.Fritz is survived by his sons: Harlan Lancaster of Freeport, IL, Vincent Lancaster of Austin, TX, Arnold (Denise Sawdley) Lancaster of Plattville, WI, and Tony (Angie) Lancaster of Monroe, WI; one daughter: Tammy (Dave) Gustason of Lena, IL; six grandchildren: Harley, Brooklyn, Lilly and Logan Lancaster and Alex and Debbie Gustason; six great-grandchildren; two brothers: John (Lucy) Lancaster, and Louis (Carol) Lancaster; and one sister: Sharon Colson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his companion of 33 years: Alice Wand in 2012; two brothers: Kermit and Norman Lancaster; one sister: Lorraine Grimme; two grandsons: Andrew Lancaster in Iraq in 2007 and Eric Gustason in 2018. Fritz was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church and a life member of Gratiot VFW Post 9692. He was the original coordinator of the Wiota July 4th Parade. Fritz was a past Boy Scout leader and head of Wiota Little League. He was past president of the Darlington Softball League and of the Lamont Cemetery Board. Fritz was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan.A private family funeral service will be held at Wiota Lutheran Church (6682 State Highway 78, South Wayne, WI) with Rev. Kate Kieckhafer of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be in Lamont Cemetery in Lamont Township where military graveside rites will be accorded by Gratiot VFW Post #9692. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
