Obituary

Mary Lou Weaver, age 79 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at her home in rural Darlington. She was born August 31, 1941 in Benton Township in Lafayette County the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Downs) Farrey. Mary Lou grew up in Benton where she graduated from Benton High School in 1959. Shortly after, she was united in marriage to her best friend, Edwin Weaver on December 3, 1960 at Benton Primitive Methodist Church in Benton. After their marriage, she and Ed moved to Cuba City, WI where they started their family. Ed and Mary Lou farmed around the Lafayette County area until settling on their farm on Dobbs Road in Lamont Township. Mary Lou proudly served as Lamont Treasurer for 38 years, worked at Micro Switch in Warren, IL and Louie's Pudding in Argyle, WI. Mary Lou is survived by her husband Ed at home; her children: Ed Weaver Jr. of Blanchardville, WI, Gregg (Jan) Weaver of Verona, WI, Jim (Lori) Weaver of Lyons, CO, Tom (Charmaine) Weaver of Argyle, Randy (Laura) Weaver of Fairmont, NE, Dan (Deb) Weaver of Green Bay, WI, Doug (Renee) Weaver of Darlington, John (Jamie) Weaver of Friesland, WI, and Andrew (Janelle) Weaver of Strausburg, CO; 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother: Ray Farrey of Benton; and one sister: Doris Blosch of Dubuque, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Roger Farrey; and one sister; Joyce Roling. Mary Lou was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington where she was very active in her bible study group, and were past members of the Pecatonica Valley Antique Club. In their younger years, Ed and Mary Lou loved to show off their square-dancing skills with the Platteville Pistols and Petticoats and the Stockton Twirlaways. She proudly volunteered for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and taking care of her flowers. She was an athlete at heart, enjoying her time as a cheerleader at Benton High School and playing other various sports throughout the years. Mary Lou was an excellent cook being most famous for her meatloaf. For a girl that was raised in the city, Mary Lou held her own on the farm. She was always resourceful, finding ways to make something out of nothing, something she had to do quite often raising 9 boys on a small family farm. She was devoted to Ed and always gave 100% to her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, so much so that she created a photo album for each of her 22 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church (15961 County Rd. K, Darlington) with Rev. Bill Vasey officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.
