Obituary
Louis R. "Louie" Lancaster, age 79 of Argyle, WI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at The Monroe Clinic Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. He was born December 21, 1941 in Darlington, WI the son of Harlow and Martha (Wenger) Lancaster. Louie grew up in Lamont Township in Lafayette County, WI and attended Dobbs Country School and later Darlington High School. Louie farmed in Lamont Township and later Wiota Township. He was united in marriage to his best friend, Carol J. Rolli on December 12, 1959 at Darlington United Methodist Church in Darlington. In 1983, Louie and Carol moved into the village of Argyle. Soon after, Louie started Louie's Specialty Food where he distributed a number of food specialties in WI, IL, and IA over a 24-year period. Louie decided to retire in 2009.Louie is survived by his wife Carol at home; his children: Allan Lancaster of Mosinee, WI, Daniel Lancaster of Black River Falls, WI, Dennis (Anne) Lancaster of South Wayne, WI, and Jeffrey Lancaster of Fitchburg, WI; his grandchildren: Heather (fiancé: Lance Kessinger) Lancaster, Emily Lancaster, Adam Lancaster, McKinley Lancaster, Max Eckhardt, and Maddie Eckhardt; two great-grandchildren: Rayce and Taytum Sue Mullen; one brother: John (Lucy) Lancaster of Marion, IA; and one sister: Sharon Coulson of Appleton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Lorraine Grimme; three brothers: Kermit Lancaster, Norman Lancaster, and Francis "Fritz" Lancaster; and one sister-in-law: Sue Lancaster. Louie was a member of Argyle/Apple Grove Lutheran Church in Argyle. He was also a proud member of the Purple Martin Preservation Society and Lafayette County Historical Society. Louie was an avid sports fan and took great pride in attending his children and grandchildren's ball games. He was always cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. When Louie wasn't working, he liked to turkey, deer, and coon hunt, and always enjoyed a good card game and trying his luck on the slot machines and dog track races. A public visitation will be held Friday, May 14, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 Milwaukee St., Argyle). I was lucky enough to get to know Louie during my time working at Ostby's Garage. I would sit in the office working, while Louie and the gang would solve the world's problems out front. They made me laugh, cringe & tear up on a regular basis:) It's hard to find men like that anymore...kind, smart, funny, & wise enough to know that spending an hour among friends each morning was one of the best parts of life. He will be missed, but very fondly remembered.
