Mildred Thompson

Mildred L. "Mickey" Thompson, age 90 of Darlington, WI passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born January 24, 1931 in Willow Springs Township in Lafayette County, WI the daughter of Clarence and Florence (O'Brien) Johnson. Mickey lived in the Darlington area her entire life and graduated from Darlington High School in 1948. After high school Mickey was united in marriage to her best friend Eugene H. Thompson on April 25, 1953 at Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington, WI., Mickey was a home maker and later worked at Advance Transformer in Platteville, WI for many years.Mickey is survived by her daughter: Lori (Joe Jr.) Leahy of Darlington; five grandchildren: Shawn (Abby) Leahy, Brad (Brenda) Leahy, Tara (Josh) Ula, Edward (Amy) Thompson, and Mitchell (Karlie) Thompson; 11 great- grandchildren, two brothers: Gaylord (Janet) Johnson of Burlington, WI, and Jack (Peg) Johnson of Madison, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; her husband Eugene on April 13, 2004; and one son: Lane (Theresa) Thompson on March 11, 2017. Two brothers; Ronald (Marabell) Johnson and LeRoy (Jeannette) Johnson; one sister: Joyce (James) DeMuth and one brother-in-law: Leo (Ula) Thompson Mickey was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington, its Women of the ELCA, and proudly served on the church council for several years. She was always very fond of spending time in her garden taking care of her plants, flowers, and yard. She enjoyed bird watching and had a soft spot in her heart for all animals especially her pet cats. Mickey cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and the memories they created together. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.A funeral service will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church (1302 Keep Street, Darlington) with Rev. Kate Kieckhafer officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at the church from 9:00 AM- 10:45AM.
