Alma Ritchie

Alma E. Ritchie, age 83 of Darlington, WI passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at UW-Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born September 2, 1939 in Lancaster, WI the daughter of Oscar and Gladys (Iverson) Brendemuehl. Alma grew up in Fennimore, WI where she graduated from Fennimore High School. She was united in marriage to Royal Ritchie on July 10, 1960 at Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore. Following her marriage, they started their life in Boscobel, WI and later moved to Kenosha, WI. In 1995, Alma and Royal retired to Darlington where she has resided since. Alma is survived by her children: Rev. David (Barbara) Ritchie of rural Darlington and Rebecca (Derek) Beaumia of Oconto Falls, WI; four grandchildren; and two brothers: Dale (Ruth) Brendemuehl of Arlington, MA and Bill (Kay) Brendemuehl of Kerkhoven, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Royal; and one grandson: Sam Leffelman.Alma was a proud member of the Eastern Star Lodge. She was known by her family as one of most outstanding cooks around. Alma also always had her nose in a book and was always learning new things. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Alma was proud to teach each of them how to drink coffee and dunk gingersnaps. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. David Ritchie officiating. Following a luncheon at Darlington American Legion, burial will be in Haney Ridge Cemetery in Crawford County, WI at approximately 2:45 P.M. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.
