Lorraine Leamer Terrill

Lorraine Ruth Joseph Leamer Terrill, born August 6, 1941, known and loved by many, died peacefully on June 12, 2021. She met the love of her life, John Nelson Terrill, in high school in St. Charles, IL. They married in 1960 and soon moved to Darlington, WI. After a tragic accident left her alone with two young daughters in 1972, she rebuilt her life with the help of her family, her friends and her faith. She became a well-loved secretary to the superintendent of Darlington schools, befriending many students and making lifelong friends of many co-workers.She valiantly raised her daughters, instilling in them the value of education, kindness, reading, music, never missing an opportunity to write a thank you note, and humor. For those who knew Lorraine, her sense of humor will probably be the first thing that comes to mind when they remember her. Many of you reading this who knew her are most likely smiling at those memories right now! She was funny. She was kind. She was stubborn. She believed in social justice and the rights of all humans. She loved to read, do puzzles (even becoming an editor for one of the puzzle publishing companies!), play cards, drink iced tea. She loved her family more than anything, except perhaps her dear friends and her pets. She loved all animals, becoming vegetarian many years ago. She created delightful stories for her children, drew amazingly charming pictures for cards and notes for all she loved, discussed her faith and her politics with conviction. Lorraine found humor no matter the situation. She will be greatly missed by a very long list of people.She was preceded in death by her mother Velma Leamer, and her husband John Terrill as well as her sister-in-law Marcia Terrill Riley Eilts. She is survived by her daughters Jill Terrill (John Noehring), Dr. Heather Terrill Stotts (Stuart), her sisters Karen Sandberg and Pat Haring (Bob), her sister-in-law Karen Siegenthaler, her beloved grandchildren Simon and Celeste Terrill Collins, her bonus grandchildren: Lacie Noehring Blake (Chad), Pam Noehring, Bryce Noehring, Cerisa Obern and Calli Obern, Jacob Rodriguez, and Ella Walker; and nieces and nephews Susie Siegenthaler Draeger (Ralph), Zane Riley (Colleen), Rick Riley, John Siegenthaler (Teresa), Lisa Siegenthaler Jacobson (Bruce), Scott Siegenthaler (Barb), and Marlisa Sandberg Swaney (Chad). Also, special mention to her dear friends Jalaine Ruegsegger, Connie McIntyre, Connie Ubersox, Deb Loken, Leona Havens, Kris Buschor, and lifetime card club friends Bev Peacock, Mary Leahy, and Margie Lee. Also, special thank you to Peggy, Luann, and Tina from Sentinel Home Health Care, Pastor Kate at Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington, and everyone from Sienna Crest in Darlington for being unfailingly kind and supportive.
