Carolyn VanNote

Carolyn V. VanNote, age 89 of Fayette, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Edenbrook of Platteville in Platteville, WI. She was born September 20, 1931 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA the daughter of Laurence and Esther (Eaton) VanNote. Carolyn grew up in Cedar Rapids where she graduated from Franklin High School and later attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. She proudly worked as a computer programmer/auditor in several cities in California - San Francisco, Berkley, and Sacramento. She moved to Fayette in 2000 where she has resided since. Carolyn is survived by her special friend: Marilyn Chambers; sister-in-law: Jan VanNote of Waterloo, IA, her god son and daughter: Patrick and Jeanne Machado-Derdowski; neighbors: David and Linda Burke; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ronald (Dorothy) VanNote and Howard VanNote; and a very special friend: Patricia Derdowski. Carolyn was an avid reader - learning to read when she was only 3. One would say she was a self-taught person. If she wanted to learn something she got books and read. She loved to visit with people and was always discussing different topics. Carolyn was a talented carpenter and did beautiful refinishing projects throughout the years. She had a passion for genealogy - doing a complete family genealogy of her VanNote family. She loved the ocean, writing poetry, cooking, and baking. She always wanted to make all kinds of treats for everybody. Carolyn had a gentle soul and was always willing to help anyone she met. Carolyn will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Fayette United Methodist Church with Rev. InSun Lee officiating. Burial will be in Fayette Cemetery. A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice, Edenbrook of Platteville Nursing Home, Hospice Nurse: Terry, and aid Jody for their excellent care of Carolyn.
