Robert Howard

Robert H. Howard, age 85 of Darlington, WI passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. He was born December 22, 1935 the son of Vernon and Myrtle (Bennett) Howard. Robert grew up in Darlington where he worked on the family farm and graduated from Darlington High School in 1953. After high school, he went on to receive his Associates Degree in Electronics from Wisconsin School of Electronics in Madison. In 1958, Robert enlisted in to the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1960. After returning home, he worked as an Electronics Technician for Argon National Labs in Chicago, IL for 15 years. He retired to Elgin, IL and later moved to Argyle until moving back to Darlington where he resided since. Robert is survived by his sister: Barbara (Clayton) Dammen of rural Darlington and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Paul Howard. Robert will always be remembered for his ability to fix anything, especially electronics. He was a voracious reader and loved history. Robert was also a very caring person who would help out his neighbors with anything and everything they needed help with - including financial assistance. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman of Apple Grove/Argyle/Yellowstone Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
