Gladys "Grace" Taylor, age 105 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, peacefully at the Lafayette County Manor in Darlington. She was born on April 7, 1916, in Willow Springs Township, WI the daughter of George Archibald & Nellie (Brisenham) Armstrong. Gladys grew up in Darlington and attended school for 8 years. She worked at a restaurant in Rock Island when she lived in Moline. Gladys had to ride a bus because she never drove. In Darlington, she worked at Mac's Laundry, Lafayette County Manor - cleaning, and the Home Health Department. Gladys loved working for the elderly, and they looked forward to her coming. They would have coffee and some snacks for her. Gladys is survived by her children: Beverly A. Rielly of Darlington, Gene F. Taylor of Seward, AK; her grandchildren: Carmel Kirschling of West Allis, WI, Laurie Cheaito of Dearborn, MI; great-grandchildren: Scott Rodriguez of Dearborn, Brandon (Katie) Rodriguez of Denver, IA, Carmella (Matt) Dosemagen of Mukwonago, WI, Shannon Buhler of West Allis, Bradley Kirschling of West Allis, Hassan Cheaito of Platteville, WI, Fatimah, Fahd, and Yoseph Cheaito of Dearborn; 3 great-great-grandchildren, one step great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters: Walter, Willie, and Clara Armstrong, Eva (Henry) Anchutz, George (Delores) Armstrong, John (Vella) Armstrong, Myrtle (James) Whalen, Mabel (Steve) Whalen, Raymond (Vera) Armstrong, and Harland (Ruth) Armstrong; and son-in-law: Joseph F. Rielly.Gladys went on many trips with family members. She went to Mall of America, Mayo Diner tours, Mount Rushmore, Grand Ole Opry, Elvis's home, Loretta Lynn's ranch, and saw Pope John Paul II in Chicago.Gladys was an avid country music fan. She went and saw many concerts, including Liberace. She enjoyed taking many crafting classes with her granddaughter Laurie Cheaito, such as china painting, ceramics, and quilting. Gladys babysat her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved flowers!A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington at 11:00AM. A visitation will be help form 10:00 AM to 10:45 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Granny was an amazing Grandmother who truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have the most wonderful memories of going on trips and taking art classes with Granny. She loved doing crafts and working in her yard growing her beautiful flowers. I will miss my beloved Grandmother.
