Obituary
Marilyn Marie Chambers age 84 of Fayette, WI passed away Sunday, September 26th at the Hospice Home in Monroe WI. She was born on January 8, 1937, in Darlington WI, the daughter of Leland and Clara (Weber) Chambers. Marilyn graduated from Darlington High School in 1955 and from the WI State College at Platteville in 1962 with a degree in elementary teaching. Her first year was teaching grades 1-8 at the Vickers School in rural Darlington. She also taught in Rockford, IL and Kenosha, WI. She graduated from the Missionary Course at the Grand Rapids School of Bible & Music in Grand Rapids, MI. She served in several mission roles including teaching in Pueblo, Mexico. She attended the Child Evangelism Fellowship Institute in Michigan and worked for them in Texas and Wisconsin. She taught in the Darlington Schools for many years until her retirement in 1999.Marilyn is survived by her brother David J. Chambers of Darlington WI, sister Jean Sterling of New Richmond Hills, TX, sister-in-law Shirley Chambers of Mineral Point, WI, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arnold Chambers, brother-in-law James Sterling, sister-in-law LaVon Chambers, nephew Paul Chambers, and special friend Carolyn VanNote. Marilyn was a member of the Fayette United Methodist Church where she served as co-treasurer. She also taught Sunday school and summer Bible school and played piano there for many years.She was a chief election inspector for the town of Fayette for 20 years and was the secretary for the Fayette Cemetery Association. She kept very busy with her passion of family genealogy and she has requested that several local libraries will be gifted with her research. Her other hobbies included travel and birdwatching. Christmases will not be the same without her leading the family in prayer and song. She will be very missed by all that were blessed to know her. Thank you to all the healthcare workers who cared for Marilyn and a special thanks to Melissa (Chambers) Schneider for managing her care. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Fayette United Methodist Church with Rev. InSun Lee officiating. Burial will be in Fayette Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. She was my teacher for 1st and 2nd grade at the Vickers county school. I was the only one in those grades so got a great start. I never forgot her. My sympathies to the family.
