Alvin Melland

Alvin E. Melland, age 74 of Monroe, WI formerly of Wiota, WI passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Rachel's Choice in Monroe. He was born October 24, 1946 at the Monroe Hospital in Monroe the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Johnson) Melland. He attended Cherry Branch School in South Wayne, WI. Alvin grew up in rural Wiota/South Wayne, WI. At the age of 15, Alvin moved to Brodhead, WI where he worked on a farm for a couple of years and the for Crandals Re-Cappling where he worked for 15 years. After that, Alvin worked at Iroquois Foundry in Browntown, WI for some time. In the late 1980's, Alvin started painting homes and barns until deciding to work at Jack's Links until he retired. Alvin is survived by his children: Greg Melland of Monroe, and Brenda (Melland) Phillips of Monroe; his grandchildren: Jake Melland and Zack Phillips both of Monroe, and Kyla Phillips of Argyle; one brother: Calvin (Myrtle) Melland of South Wayne; his sisters: Winogene Everson of Monroe, Ramona DeNure of Argyle, and Juanita (Jeff) Kent of South Wayne; a brother-in-law: Roy Halvorson of Browntown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Walter Melland; two sisters: Marjorie Mau and Muriel Halvorson; three brothers-in-law: Lester Mau, Robert Everson, Kenneth DeNure; and one sister-in-law: Lois Melland. Alvin was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He also had a passion for collecting antiques from various places around the tri-states. He cherished the time he spent with his family creating memories they will all remember forever. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Wiota Lutheran Church with Rev. Myron Crawford officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. at Wiota Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
