Delbert Steiner

Delbert E. Steiner, age 82 of Fayette, WI, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Platteville, WI. He was born December 1, 1938, at the Darlington Clinic the son of Harold and Phyllis (White) Steiner. Delbert lived in the Darlington area his entire life where he graduated from Darlington High School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patsy I. Douglas, on September 9, 1961, at Fayette United Methodist Church in rural Darlington. Together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He proudly served as an electrician for over 40 years until his retirement as well as operating the family farm since 1970. Delbert is survived by his wife Patsy at home; his children: Connie (Joey Schwartz) Riley of Darlington, Cheryl (the late Jon) Riley of Darlingon, John (Robin) Steiner of West Salem, WI, and Carmen (Mark) Rielly of Darlington; his grandchildren: Matthew Fink, Mikayla (Jacob Pollock) Riley, Bailey & Kaylee Schwartz, Joshua (Ashley) Riley, Ashley (Scott) McDonald, Jordan (Kelli) Riley, Alyvia (Carson Carpenter) Riley, Cassandra (Jeremy) Lazar, Payton (Nicole Gross) Steiner, Gabrielle Steiner, Gunnar, Grady, & Emma Rielly; his great-grandchildren: Rella, JJ, Ruthie, and Jentry Riley, Wrenley Carpenter, Aspen McDonald, Cooper Steiner, Greyson, Kade, & Harper Lazar; four sisters: Janice Whitcher of Sun Prairie, WI, Barbara Ischi of Evansville, WI, Marjorie (Terry) Crapp of Clinton, WI, and Carol (Don) Gaulrapp of Monroe, WI; and one sister-in-law: Sharon Steiner of Lancaster, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Duane Steiner and Charles Steiner; one sister: Nancy Pilling; a son-in-law: Jon Riley; his brothers-in-law: Joe Pilling, Jerry Whitcher, and Joe Ischi; and a sister-in-law: Deb Steiner. Delbert was a lifetime member of Fayette United Methodist Church and the Fayette Sportsmen's Club where he was famous for making the chili. He was also a member of Fayette Sno Goers, IBEW Local 159, and was a project leader for Fayette Go-Getters 4-H. Delbert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed chopping wood, taking care of cattle, and proudly went elk hunting out west for 27 years. Delbert also took pride in attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events, always making sure to be there to cheer them on. He was a proud Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Pecatonica boys basketball fan, but took great pride in supporting his beloved Darlington Redbirds - rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Fayette United Methodist Church with Rev. InSun Lee officiating. Burial will be in Fayette Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Fayette United Methodist Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
