Charlie was a great mentor at Grace Lutheran Church. Not only could he tell us a good history story, but he was always willing to show you the correct way of doing something in the church. I will you.

Charlie and I attended kindergarten together, then high school and then the Univ. of Wisconsin. Each time I came to Darlington in later years I always looked forward to dropping in at the Pharmacy to greet Charlie, His Mom and Dad and Janice ((and they would tell me how smart, handsome etc Charlie's son was.) Having breakfast at the Town House with him was a highlight of trips home.Charlie had the best memory of anyone I have ever known.( I have a big file of his columns from the Darlington Paper By great good luck ( and some diligence) I found where he was living and talked to him on the phone just three days before he died.
