Thomas Parkinson

Thomas R. "Parky" Parkinson, age 58 of rural Darlington, WI passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his home. He was born March 23, 1963 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Blaine) Parkinson. Tom lived in Darlington his entire life and graduated from Darlington High School in 1981. After graduation, Tom enlisted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country until being honorably discharged after sustaining an injury. Upon his return home, Tom worked at Darlington Dairy Supply where he worked most of his adult life. Tom is survived by his wife Vicki at home; his children: Tyler Parkinson of Platteville, WI, Josh Parkinson of Darlington, Ben (Jamie) Parkinson of Mineral Point, WI, and Hannah Parkinson of Platteville; his step-children: Jen (Brad Tibbets) Martin of Mineral Point, Christopher (Maria Young) Reichling of Darlington, Heather (Matt McGuire) Reichling of Monticello, WI, and Nathan Reichling of Darlington; 13 grandchildren; two brothers: Tim Parkinson of Darlington and Terry (Diana) Parkinson of Darlington; two sisters: Kay (Mitch) Iverson of Platteville, WI and Patty (Roger) Tyson of Belmont, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Tom was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington and was a proud member of Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved watching birds, trapping, hunting, fishing, and camping. When he wasn't working he enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, cruising around the back country roads, working on vehicles, and making sure his kids cars were in tip-top shape. Tom always liked to watch old Western movies and listen to country and classic rock music. Tom cherished his family - especially his children and grandchildren and always made sure they knew how proud he was of them. The memories they created together will be remembered by each of them forever. He had a kind soul and loved to make people laugh. He was very generous and would give the shirt off his back to a person in need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington) with Rev. Luke Syse officiating where military rites will be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington following the service. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
