Alice Stamm

Alice A. (Reed) Stamm, age 74 of rural Argyle, WI passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at her home. She was born March 30, 1947, in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Glenn and Mabel (Gilbertson) Reed. Alice grew up in Argyle and lived in the Argyle area and graduated from Argyle High School as salutatorian. Alice lived the American Dream - falling in love with and marrying her high school sweetheart Bennie Stamm Jr. She was proud to raise their family, travel the world, and follow her soulmate all throughout the United States. Alice was known by many as the friendly Postmaster in Argyle for 33 years until retiring. In 2001, Alice and Bennie bought a parcel of land in Alaska to chase their dream of becoming dog sledders. They built a cabin and spent their winters training the dogs for 10 years. In 2003, 2004, and 2007 Bennie ran the Iditarod and Alice cheered him on. In 2010, they bought a home in North Dakota where they hunted and trapped for many years. Alice is survived by the love of her life Bennie at home; her son: Scott (Stacey) Stamm of Janesville; her two grandchildren that she absolutely adored: Spencer and Sadie Stamm; brothers-in-law: Gary (Cathy) Stamm of South Wayne, WI and Greg (Ruth) Stamm of Argyle; two sisters-in-law: Barbara (Jerry) Flannery of Weatherford, TX, and Grace (Richard) Notter of Monticello, WI; one brother; Wally Reed and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and one brother. Alice was a member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a proud member of the NRA and the trapping club in Argyle. She enjoyed going to country western festivals throughout the United States, camping, and was known for her cake baking skills. Alice also spent 12 years working at the bait shop at Yellowstone Lake where she met new friends almost daily. She was most proud of being a wife, mother, and grandmother, and always made sure her family knew how proud she was of them. Alice was Bennie's biggest fan - and was proud to raise every dog Bennie ran in the Iditarod. She had a heart of gold and always did what she could for anyone she met. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Yellowstone Lutheran Church with Rev. Daniel Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Yellowstone Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 9:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. at Yellowstone Lutheran Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
