David C. Boatman-Toom, age 68 of Darlington, WI passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born November 24, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of James and Jane (Leidigh) Toom. David lived in the Cedar Rapids area most of his life where he graduated from Alburnett High School. While in Cedar Rapids, David met his best friend and soulmate, Jeff Boatman in 2006. They were united in marriage on January 12, 2019, in Cedar Rapids. In July 2020 he and Jeff moved to Darlington where they have resided since. David is survived by his husband Jeff at home; his children: Ryan (Tina) Toom, Michael Toom, and Carissa (Brian) Lala all of Cedar Rapids; and his grandchildren that he absolutely adored: Alayna, Caitlin and Cody Toom, Kayleen and William Lala. He was preceded in death by his parents. David loved spending time with Jeff and their dog. He was a huge fan of the holidays and always enjoyed decorating for them - making their house a favorite to drive by. When he wasn't working he could be found reading, cooking, and socializing with family and friends. A Celebration of David's Life will be held at a later date. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in David's name.

So sorry for your loss. David and I worked together at Souvenir for many years, maybe not in the same department but we seen each other every day. Very nice person! Loved to talk about his kids and his grandchildren. Also couldn't wait to marry the love of his life, Jeff. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you rest in peace David!!

David will be greatly missed. He was a pleasure to work with at Souvenir and was always first to offer help to his co-workers. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff, Ryan, Michael, Carissa and his Grandkids, as well as Tank who will miss him tremendously.

So sad. I went to high school with David...he graduated a year ahead of me. I remember being in musicals with him and I remember the bus dropping him off at his house on the County Home Road. RIP, David.
