Linda Appling

Linda K. Appling, age 69 of Darlington, WI, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. She was born October 26, 1952 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Clayton and Florence (Benson) DeVoe. Linda lived in Darlington her entire life where she graduated from Darlington High School in 1970 and worked as an aid at Darlington Daycare during the day and at Casey's General Store at night both in Darlington until her health no longer allowed her to work. She was united in marriage to Dickie Appling on February 12, 2000 in Russellville, KY and together have resided in Darlington since.Linda is survived by her husband Dickie at home; one son: Bauchman (Kimberly) Boelk of Madison, WI; two step-children: Joey (Lisa) Rose and Kimberly Appling both of Russellville; five grandchildren: Cody and Mady Rose, Autumn Boelk, Alaura Howard, and Anna Thomas; one brother: Steven DeVoe of Monroe, WI; one sister: Marlene S. (Larry) Rose of Paris, TN; one sister-in-law: Linda DeVoe of Darlington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Clayton on July 1, 1985; her mother: Florence on November 27, 1987; and one brother: Edward "Butch" DeVoe. Linda was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington. She enjoyed gardening, going out to eat and going to the movie theater with her family and friends. Linda was known by her family and friends for her baking skills - especially her brownies and elephant ears. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren creating memories they will all remember forever. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Darlington with Rev. Nick J. McElrath and Rev. Kurt Thompson co-officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at First Baptist Church.
