Obituary
Karen Elizabeth Siegenthaler, age 86 of Darlington, WI passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Darlington. She was born June 12, 1936 in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Harry and Verna (Severson) Terrill. Karen spent the first few years of her life living in Jonesdale, WI until moving to Darlington where she went to school. On July 26, 1953 she was united in marriage to Robert E. "Bob" Siegenthaler at Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington. Together they farmed on Woodberry Road in rural Darlington until moving into the city of Darlington in 1989. It was at that time Karen started working for Lands End in Dodgeville, WI where she worked until she retired. Karen is survived by her children: Susie (Ralph) Draeger of Fitchburg, WI, John (Teresa) Siegenthaler of Darlington, Lisa (Bruce) Jacobson of Lodi, WI, and Scott (Barb) Siegenthaler of Darlington; her grandchildren: Megan (Jon) Fechner of Darlington, Amy (Fritz) Werhane of McFarland, WI, Dane (fiancé: Kaylee Hustad) Siegenthaler of Madison, WI, Dr. Xander (Carina) Jacobson of Albany, NY, Zachary (Kelly) Jacobson of Wilmette, IL, Austin (Olivia Huang) Jacobson of Philadelphia, PA, and Kaitlin (fiancé: Matthew Gaske) Jacobson of Chicago, IL; her great-grandchildren: Callaway, Coulson, Phoebe, and Isaiah Fechner, and Chiara Jacobson; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Keith (Marilyn) Siegenthaler, Orvin (Ruth) Siegenthaler, Libby Hanson, and Ruthie (Jerry) Custis; her lifetime friends: Betty Merriam, Shirley McConnell, and Valda Ostby; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert "Bob" Siegenthaler, son: Robert Anthony "Tony" Siegenthaler; sister: Marcia (Arnie) Eilts; brother: John (Lorraine) Terrill; nephews: Alan McMannes, Brian McMannes and Kurt Siegenthaler; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry Riley, Don Hanson, and Pauline (Chuck) McMannes. Karen was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and it's UCC Women's Guild in Darlington, and the Mt. Pleasant Homemakers. She enjoyed photography, sewing, and gardening (specifically canning tomatoes). Karen always liked to share a good game of cards with her Card Club, whether it was 500, Rummy Royal, or several others. She always liked to take care of other people and made sure that the farmers were well fed when they came to help harvest throughout the years. She was also an avid sports fan, always cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and of course the Darlington Redbirds. Karen was very family oriented and always made it a point to make sure her family - especially her grandchildren - knew how proud she was of them. She cherished the time she got to spend with them creating memories they will all remember forever. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 20, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa St., Darlington) with Rev. Bill Whitford officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
