Pauline Douglas

Pauline "Polly" Douglas, age 91 of Darlington, WI passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Darlington. She was born on February 12, 1931 in Darlington the daughter of J. Russell and Eva (Schwartz) Simmons. Polly grew up in Darlington where she lived her entire life and graduated from Darlington High School in 1949. On August 8, 1968, Polly married the love of her life Donald "Buck" Douglas at Darlington United Church of Christ in Darlington. She worked at Meier's Bakery and as a cook at the Towne House, Hardees, and Hilda's Country Kitchen. She later took care of children at her in-home daycare in Darlington where she impacted the lives of many children from the community throughout the years. Polly is survived by her children: Allen "Butch" (Ann) Douglas of Mineral Point, WI, Ric (Donna) Douglas, Sheila (Doug) Kelly, and Scott (Lori) Douglas all of Darlington; her grandchildren: Dana (Brandon) Poad of Verona, WI, Dylan (Kayla) Douglas of Madison, WI, Alex (Trisha) Douglas of Darlington, Abby Douglas of Darlington, Andrew (Kaila) Kelly of Plain, WI, Hannah (Garrett Jeffers) Kelly of Clinton, WI, Harley (Tanner) Sullivan of Ridgeway, WI, Gina (Colton Long) Douglas of Darlington, and Matthew Douglas of Darlington; her great-grandchildren: Tucker (Taylor Jacobson), Dawson, and Wheelar Douglas, Evan Komprood, and Levi Long all of Darlington, Kelsey Douglas of Barneveld, WI, and Brinley, Avery, and Greyson Poad of Verona. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald "Buck" Douglas; a grandson: Aric Douglas; one brother: Keith Simmons; and one sister: Marion Simmons in infancy. Polly was a member of Darlington United Methodist Church in Darlington. She was a true Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Darlington Redbirds fan - always cheering them on throughout the years. She loved to bake almost as much as her family enjoyed eating what she was baking and will be remembered for her cinnamon rolls, chocolate marshmallow bars and numerous other goodies she made during the holidays. Polly's pride and joy was her family. She made sure each one of her children and grandchildren knew how proud she was of them. She cherished the time she got to spend with her family creating memories they will all hold close to their hearts forever. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church with Rev. InSun Lee officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church.
