Vernalee Dorsey

Vernalee Dorsey, age 98 of Argyle, WI passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Agrace Hospice Home in Fitchburg, WI. She was born June 28, 1924 in Iowa County, Wisconsin the daughter of Hans and Goldie (Kammerud) Johnson. Vernalee grew up in Blanchardville, WI where she lived until moving to Rockford, IL in the fall of 1943 to support the war effort where she worked at Continental Electric. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Dorsey on December 8, 1945 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rockford. In 1967, Vernalee and her family moved to Palatine, WI where she worked as a clerk at Defense Co. In 1974, she moved to Argyle and worked at Rossing's Fine Foods until 1979 when she returned to Rockford to work with her friends at Highland Bakery. In 1984, she returned to Argyle where she has resided since. Vernalee is survived by her children: Maryellyne (Bruce) Rear of Argyle, Michael Francis (Cynthia) Dorsey of Strawberry Point, IA, and Julia Kolden of Argyle; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Dorsey, Todd (Collen) Rear, Shannon Goebel, Seth (Tara) Rear, and Rachel (Ray) Plum; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters; Nancy Caldwell of Blanchardville, and Connie (Dennis) Relihan of San Tan Valley, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1973; and three brothers: Mac Johnson, Bernard Johnson and Richard Johnson; one sister: Mayona Lewis; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Vernalee was a member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church and its WELCA. She was very active in her children's lives where she was a boy scout and girl scout leader, and was part of the local PTA. She also made sure to support her children and grandchildren in all their extra-curricular activities - making sure they knew how proud she was of them. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Yellowstone Lutheran Church with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, March 20, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 7:00PM at the Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle (801 E. Milwaukee St., Argyle WI, 53504) and from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM on Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral service. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle Is serving the family.
