Obituary
Carol J. Martin, age 84 of Darlington, WI passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. She was born October 18, 1938, in Fayette Township in Lafayette County, the daughter of Curtis and Clara (Siegenthaler) Loken. Carol grew up in the Fayette area and attended Darlington High School. She was united in marriage to M. Lyle Martin on September 4, 1955, at West Wiota Lutheran Church in Wiota. After marrying Lyle they began farming in the Waldwick area before moving to Darlington in 1965. Carol is survived by her children: Mickey (Dena) Martin of Menasha, WI, Diane Bredeson of Darlington, and Gary (Nikki) Martin of Darlington; her grandchildren: Carrie Blaser, Anthony (Katie) Martin, Emily Fox, Cody (Courtney) Bredeson, Jonathan, Mitchell, and Max Martin; and her great-grandchildren: Khloe and Finnley Martin, Rhett and Blayke Bredeson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle; one daughter: Julie Martin; her brothers: Bob (Sherry) Loken, Fritz (Ann) Loken, and Laverne (Iona) Loken; two sisters: Lillian and Glenda Loken; sisters-in-law: Lonna (John) Long and Verlene (Bob) McGowan; two nephews: Mark Loken and Mike McGowan; and one niece: Joan McDermott. Carol was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington and its Women's Guild. She took great pride and always loved taking care of her flowers, enjoyed her card club and monthly gatherings for lunch with friends. Carol was an avid Wisconsin Badger, Green Bay Packer, and Darlington Redbird fan and cheered them on whenever she could. She cherished the time she spent with her family creating memories they will remember forever. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa St., Darlington) with Rev. Bill Whitford officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Lafayette County Manor and Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for their wonderful and compassionate care of Carol.
