V. Jean Fox

V. Jean Fox, known lovingly to friends and family as Jean, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023, in Darlington, Wisconsin. Born on March 2, 1938, in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leslie and Gertrude (Gille) Winslow. She was united in marriage to J. Richard Fox on March 2, 1957 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot, WI. Jean lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Jean was a proud graduate of Argyle High School, class of 1956. Following her education, she dedicated her life to serving others in various roles. As a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, Jean provided compassionate care to countless patients. She later brought warmth and joy to patrons as a waitress at Mac's Cafe. Jean's strong work ethic and dedication to her community continued as she worked at Darlington Elementary School, first in the kitchen and later as a janitor. After retirement, Jean worked seasonally for a number of years. In addition to her professional contributions, Jean was an active and enthusiastic member of her community and took pride in being a 4-H leader. She loved bowling with her Brunkow Team, bringing laughter and camaraderie to the lanes. She especially enjoyed camping with her family and friends at Petenwell Campground in Adam's County. Jean cherished her family, especially her grandchildren (who she always spoiled) and the memories they created together. Jean's kindness, humor, and selflessness were evident in every aspect of her life, from her work to her hobbies and beyond. Family was the cornerstone of Jean's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her children, Steve Fox, Dennis Fox, Rose (Randy) Leu, and Terry (Edith) Fox all of Darlington. Jean's legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Brian (Christy) Fox, Sara (Josh) Stadt, Emily Fox, Dustin Leu, James (Lacey) Leu, Kenzie (Andrew Molzof) Fox, Taran Fox, Alex Fox-Vasquez, Mia Fox Vasquez, and Carrie Blaser as well as her seven great-grandchildren. She was further survived by her sisters-in-law: Mary Winslow and Judi (Larry) Erpenbach. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick Fox; her brothers, Leo, Earl, Roy, Bernard, and James Winslow; and her sisters, Rita Thyberg and Mary Dunlavy; and two daugthers-in-law: Kelly Fox and Lori Fox. While her loved ones mourn her loss, they take comfort in knowing that Jean is reunited with those who have gone before her. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington) with Fr. Luke Syse officiating. Burial will be in Truman Cemetery in Kendall Township in Lafayette County, WI. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
