SALLY LOUISE PETRY ROCKFORD, IL - Sally Louise Petry passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Rockford, IL. Sally was born May 29, 1934, in LaCrosse, Wis., the youngest of eight children to Dennis and Clara Ames. Sally graduated from Central High School in 1951. She became a young mother and homemaker, learning to bake, sew, knit, and later make beautiful ceramics and flower arrangements. She most loved to read and collect and refurbish antique furniture. In 1955, she and Jim moved to Rockford, Illinois and in 1969 to Roscoe, IL where Jim established Petry Homes and built several subdivisions. Sally assisted with the bookkeeping. In 1979 Sally and Jim moved to southwest Wisconsin. There she took up golf and won several ladies golf tournaments at the Prairie Du Chien Golf Country Club where they played regularly. For many years, they winter vacationed in Miami, Florida playing golf and visiting their daughter and family. Sally is survived by her two children, Jeff and Paula; and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, her son, Jim; and granddaughter, Alexandra. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Rev. David Olson of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Argyle officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the National Alzheimer's Association.

Jeff and Paula I was so sorry to hear about Sally’s death. I have many memories of us as Much young going to junk store and Sally always finding “the good stuff” I still have a piece she talked me into buying just because it was too good to pass up. Paula and Jeff, Please accept my condolences on your loss. I have wondered about her these past years since my mom passed in 2021. They were such very good friends growing up on the 'North side'. Mom shared stories of their escapades as girls and as high schoolers. My Mom, Barbara Sue Blankenship Walsh was happy to spend time with Sally. At your Dad's funeral and then the day I drove her down to spend the day in Roscoe. Mom was very impressed with Sally's two large dogs. Even at that time Sally was having to adapt to her loss of eyesight, but she seemed to take it in stride. A few weeks before Mom died she was able to speak to Sally on the phone. Sally was not able to have a real conversation but Mom tried to spur memories of their shared past. Barb was so very happy to have heard Sally's voice and for days commented on how good it was to talk to Sally. (with the utmost love in her voice). Paula, thanks for your assistance to help me connect these wonderful women we were lucky enough to call Mom. Karen Walsh Ritter
