Obituary

Billie L. Ferger, a kind, selfless, and gentle soul, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023, at the age of 84 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, Darlington, WI. Born on December 15, 1938, in Beloit, WI, Billie touched the lives of countless people with her warm heart and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She was a loving foster parent to many children in Sharon, WI over the years and always had an open door for any child that needed a home. Growing up in Beloit, Billie married the love of her life, James Robert Ferger, at the young age of 15. The couple married on September 24, 1953, in Beloit, WI, and embarked on a remarkable journey together. James enlisted in the United States Military, and the couple traveled from various Air Force bases until his honorable discharge, after which they settled in Sharon, WI. There, Billie raised her children and supported her husband, running J&B Video for many years. In 1999, Billie and James moved to Darlington, where Billie began working for Sienna Crest Assisted Living. She continued to work there until her well-deserved retirement in 2009. Throughout her life, Billie was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Sharon, WI, and Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington, WI. Her unwavering faith was evident in her devotion to Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Billie's commitment to her community was recognized when she was named "Citizen of the Year" in Sharon, WI. She also served Meals on Wheels for the Shullsburg area, further showcasing her selflessness and eagerness to help others. Billie's interests were diverse, and she spent her free time crocheting, quilting, doing crafts, playing cards, and listening to music. A lover of the outdoors, Billie enjoyed 4-wheeling, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family. Billie had a special bond with her two great-granddaughters Ryelyn and Odyssa that they will cherish forever. Billie is survived by her children, Craig (Nancy) Ferger of Arkdale, WI, and Denise (Robert) Harazin of Camden, TN; a son-in-law, Robert Moore of Beloit, WI; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, John Schultz; and one sister, Diane Simplot.
