Carol E. (Carpenter) Benson, age 69 of rural Darlington, WI passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023 at the Mineral Point Care Center in Mineral Point, WI. Carol Elizabeth (Carpenter) Benson, a loving and kind-hearted woman, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, at the Mineral Point Care Center. Born on January 10, 1954, in Darlington, WI, Carol lived a life full of compassion and friendliness that touched the hearts of many. Carol was born to the late Roy Carpenter and Regina (Boyle) Carpenter. She was the cherished sister of Lori (Michael) Fisher of Dodgeville, WI, and Sharon (Robert) Ward of Madison, WI. She is survived by her son Shawn (Miranda Parchem) Benson of Madison, WI, and her beloved grandson, Oliver Benson, nephew: Robin Natvig, two nieces: Penny (Tim) Mihael and Cory Peterson, two great nieces: Paige Mihael and Coley (Carson) Mihael and one great nephew: Zachary Peterson. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Carpenter in 1962, and her sister Karen Peterson. A proud Wisconsinite, Carol obtained her master's degree in Guidance Counseling from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. Her education fueled her passion for helping others, leading her to a fulfilling career as the former director of the Commission of Aging, now known as the ADRC. Carol's kindness and empathy were evident in her work, where she tirelessly served her community and made a profound impact on the lives of those she helped. Carol was an active member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her dedication to her church community was a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of unity and fellowship. Carol had a deep love for reading and antiquing. Her extensive library was a testament to her love for literature, and her keen eye for antiques made her a regular at local markets. These hobbies not only brought her joy but also allowed her to connect with others over shared interests. Carol will be remembered for her loving nature and her kind spirit. Her friendly demeanor made her a joy to be around, and her genuine care for others was evident in all aspects of her life. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI). A visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
