Beverly Martin

Beverly Kaye Martin, 80, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. Bev was the youngest of nine children born to Eleanor and Charles Pickett. She grew up in Darlington, WI, where she attended and graduated from Darlington High School. Bev's early years were filled with the love and companionship of her large family, setting the stage for a life filled with deep familial bonds and lifelong friendships. On October 5, 1963, Bev married Thayne "Butch" Martin. They were married for 42 years and raised 2 kids in Waunakee, WI. Later, Bev would call McHenry, IL, and Keizer, OR, home. Bev spent several years serving her community as a dental office manager where she loved getting to know all the patients. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and cared after. She was also engaged in various local organizations. She was a Jaycee, a Stephen Minister, and an active member of the Salem Newcomer club. She took immense pride in her role as a Welcome Wagon lady, welcoming new residents to the community with open arms. Her dedication to helping others was evident in her involvement as a Stephen Minister, where she provided support for a family dealing with Alzheimer's. In her later years, Bev found companionship and happiness with John Pink. Bev loved being surrounded by her family and her friends. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many friends and relatives. She is survived by her children, Charles Martin and his partner, Simon Reid, and Melinda (Michael) Flathau; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Lucas) Pauley and Matthew Flathau; her loving companion, John Pink; her sister, Betty Merriam; her brother in-law, Mark (Teri) Martin, her sisters-in-laws, Carol Martin and Sandy Martin; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Iva Kammerud, Eileen (Harold) Barth, Ray (Eileen) Pickett, Marion (Alvin) Hocking, Eleanor Erickson, Bob Pickett, and Roger Pickett; brothers-in-laws Wilfred Merriam, Dick (Janis) Martin, Robert Martin, Michael Martin, and Timothy Martin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 A.M at Darlington United Methodist Church (550 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. InSun Lee officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
