Kurt Douglas "Doug" King, age 67 of Shullsburg, WI formerly of Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Shullsburg Home in Shullsburg. He was born March 27, 1956, in Shullsburg the son of John and Ione (Noble) King. Doug grew up in the rural Darlington/Mineral Point, WI area and graduated from Darlington High School. He lived in Lafayette County his entire life. Doug was a former member of Darlington United Methodist Church in Darlington. He worked for Green Co in Monroe, WI for a number of years and later worked at the Hodan Center in Mineral Point, WI. He always enjoyed the camaraderie he had with his coworkers. Doug is survived by his siblings: Gerald King of Darlington and Kim Reed of West Union, IA; a cousin: Dick Noble and Donna Schoening; his nieces and nephews: Lori (Tim) Kramer, Bud (Tracy) King, Jay (Rob) King, Jeff (Missy) King, Jon (Jenni) King, Jason (Tammy) King, Justin Jones, Jenna (Daniel) Hope, Janessa (Jason) Zehner, Jennifer Palfrey, and Jodie (Chris) Oaks; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Bruce King and Barry King; one sister: Shirley Palfrey; two sisters-in-law: Barbara King and Ruth Ann King; a brother-in-law: Philip Reed. A memorial service will be held Friday September 29, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church (550 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. InSun Lee officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church.
