Ronald Foley

Ronald J. "Ron" Foley, age 82 of Cuba City, WI formerly of Shullsburg, WI passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Platteville, WI. He was born December 5, 1941 in Shullsburg, the son of James and Anita (Gable) Foley. Ron graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1959. He married the love of his life, Barbara Burke on November 17, 1962, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Ron grew up and lived in Shullsburg until moving to Cuba City in 2020. He owned and operated the Burg Theatre in the 70's. He was a meat cutter and dairy manager for 45 years with Dick's Supermarket in Darlington before retiring in 2003. Ron is survived by his wife Barb; four children: Tim Foley of Madison, WI, Todd (Renee) Foley of Palmer, AK, Cindy Blanks of Wauwatosa, WI, and Scott (Natalie) Foley of Anchorage, AK; seven grandchildren: Keagan Blanks (fiancé: Shannon Burback) of Gurnee, IL, Kya Blanks of Milwaukee, WI, Griffin Blanks of Wauwatosa, WI, Dylan Foley of Minneapolis, MN, Bennett Foley of Urbana, IL, and Ila and Aubrey Foley of Anchorage, AK; one brother: Dan (Linda) Foley of Cottage Grove, WI, three sisters: Kathy (Dan) Kilpatrick of Neenah, WI, Mary Foley of Shullsburg, WI and Pam (Dan) Cruse of Davenport, IA; two sisters-in-law: Josephine Foley of Dubuque, IA, and Juanita Swift of Platteville, WI, a son-in-law: Dennis Blanks of Wauwatosa, WI, a special family friend: Sharon Donohoo of Shullsburg, WI and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Gary Foley; and an infant son: Brian Foley. Ron was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg and its Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Shullsburg Fire Department. Ron was a devoted grandpa to his grandchildren and loved following all of their sporting events. He always told them how much they were loved and how special they were to him. He loved their hugs. Ron enjoyed classic car shows and he and wife Barb of 61 years had lots of fun with his 1964 Chevy Impala on outings with friends, and trips to Alaska. He always had a smile and a good sense of humor. He enjoyed life, especially the Foley Mulligans, golf outings and Foley Family Christmases. He was a huge fan of the Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers and Green Bay Packers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Fr. Chris Gernetzke officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:45 A.M. at the church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. Ron will be sadly missed but always in our hearts. He was a joy to all his family and will be remembered for his tenacity, humor, and gentle ways. Ron and Gary, 2 brother angels, can walk again in Heaven.
