Charolette Ubersox

Charolette Bernadine Ubersox, age 97, of rural Shullsburg passed away at Upland Hills Hospital on December 23, 2023. Berny was born June 23, 1926, in Wiota, WI., the daughter of Nicholas and Alice Mayne. She was a graduate of Darlington High School class of 1944. After high school she married the love of her life John "Hans" Ubersox on February 8, 1945, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington. It was an incredibly special day for them as it was a double wedding with their close friends Cliff and Kitty Sargent. The two couples stood up for each other and were married almost 70 years before Hans passed away on December 1, 2014. Rev. Siemers married the couple and then later confirmed Berny, which is something that she was very proud of, she was second in her confirmation class. Berny is survived by 4 children: Christine (Larry) Leitzinger in Monroe, WI., Ron (Jeannie) Ubersox and Randy (Connie) Ubersox both of Shullsburg and Bill (Jeanne) Ubersox of Grand Junction, CO and one daughter-in-law: Christine Ubersox. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 29 great- grand children and 8 great-great-grandchildren, two half-sisters: Deanna (Al) Sacker of Monroe, WI and Tammie (Greg) Deremer of Monroe, WI. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Hans on December 1, 2014, her son John David Ubersox, granddaughter Kim Dorsey and a great grandchild Garrett Brinlee Ubersox and her sister Punk Malott. She was devoted to her family; it was the center of her world and loved her life on the farm. Berny was a member of the Immanuel Church of Christ in Darlington and its Women's Guild. She enjoyed baking and cooking for anyone who came to visit, and she was known for her delicious homemade buns. She was a beloved mother, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa St.) with Rev. Robert Wilkins officiating. The burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Immanuel United Church of Christ. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
