Mary Ellen Moran

Mary Ellen Moran, age 93 of Darlington, WI, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI. She was born April 3, 1931 in Darlington Township in Lafayette County, WI the daughter and third child of Leo and Magdalen (O'Brien) Moran. Mary Ellen attended Otter Creek and Holy Rosary Grade Schools and later graduated from Darlington High School in 1949. After high school, she moved to Racine WI where she worked until 1975. She then moved back to Darlington to be closer to family. She began working at Lafayette Manor shortly thereafter and proudly worked there for 20 years. She made some of her fondest memories while working there. Mary Ellen is survived by one sister: Theresa (Dave) Lovett of Monroe, WI; a sister-in-law: Carol Moran of New Berlin, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: Rosie (Joe), Leo (Edna), and Tom. Mary Ellen was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was always a very active member and proudly served on its Catholic Daughters and Altar Society. She was always very proud of her Irish heritage. In her free time, Mary Ellen was an avid reader, and spent countless hours volunteering at the Lafayette Manor and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was also known for always sending cards to her family and friends for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington). Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church with a rosary being prayed at 9:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
