Richard Wiederholt

Richard E. "Rich" Wiederholt, age 56, of Darlington, WI, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. He was born May 8, 1968, in Hazel Green, WI, the son of Herbert and Jean (Saeugling) Wiederholt. Rich grew up in rural Cuba City, WI, on the family dairy farm and graduated from Cuba City High School in 1986. Following high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin - Platteville until transferring to Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, WI, where he received his degree in Municipal Engineering. He was united in marriage to Jennifer Weber on May 12, 1990, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg, WI. Out of college, Rich began working for the City of Darlington as a Municipal Engineer where he worked his entire career. In the spring and fall of every year he would help his father and later Carns Farms plant and harvest their crops. Rich is survived by his wife Jennifer at home; his children: Ryan Wiederholt of Arena, WI, Katie (Ed) Olson of Cuba City, WI, and Adam (Meghan) Wiederholt of Waterloo, WI; his two grandchildren: Morgan Nodolf-Olson and JJ Olson; two brothers: Dave (JoAnn) Wiederholt and Ron (Kathy) Wiederholt; one sister: Julie (Dale Halink) Bagniefski; 15 nieces and nephews; 6 great-nieces and nephews; his parents-in-law: Vernon and Myrt Weber; sisters-in-law: Karen (Clark) Hoppman and Kathy (Scott) Paul; and one brother-in-law: David (Amber Rothwell) Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother: Donna Wiederholt; and two nephews. He spent as much time outside as he possibly could hunting, gardening (and later canning and freezing his produce), cutting wood, and taking fishing trips with the guys. Rich had a soft spot in his heart for his cats and treated them like they were humans. His family meant the world to him and he always made sure they knew how proud he was of them. Rich was always one to tell a good story and could make anyone laugh at any given time. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A visitation will be held Friday, November 15, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M at the Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington). A private family burial will be held at a later date.
