L. Halvorson

L. Clinton Halvorson, age 89, of Darlington, WI, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque, IA. He was born September 15, 1935, in Woodford, WI, the son of Herman and Myrtle (Thorson) Halvorson. Clinton grew up in Darlington where he graduated from Darlington High School. He was united in marriage to M. Pauline Nevels on August 1, 1959, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Clinton spent his entire life in the Darlington area where he dedicated all of his working years to the farm. Clinton is survived by his children: Pat Halvorson of Cobb, WI, Julie (Tim) Zasada of Platteville, WI, Jim (Leslie) Halvorson of Columbus, WI, and Tom (Patty) Halvorson of Neenah, WI; his grandchildren: Blake, Travis, Patrick, Kyrin, Tayna, Erica, Connor, and Brianna; his great-grandchildren: Lynea, Skye, and Christopher; two brothers-in-law: Henry Tschanz of Monroe, WI and Bob Prine of Dubuque, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pauline; three brothers: Sylvester, Edward, and Eldon Halvorson and one brother in infancy; and his sisters: Arlene Heins, Idellis McKillip, Jeaneen Benson, and Melva "Lolly" Tschanz. Clinton was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington and Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. He was always exceptionally proud to be an Army veteran. Clinton worked extremely hard on the farm and took great pride in all of his work accomplishments. Above all, Clinton's most prized accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He made sure they all knew how proud he was of them every chance he could. When he wasn't working on the farm, Clinton enjoyed watching the Wisconsin Badgers but absolutely loved his Sundays watching the Green Bay Packers. He always had a quiet demeanor but took every chance he could to go to Glennie's in Darlington where he would not only enjoy a meal, but converse with his friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington). Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. A visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
