After high school she worked various jobs until she found her calling in life, Kim decided to become be a massage therapist, so she went to massage therapy school at Capri College in Dubuque, Iowa. She spent her working years owning her own massage therapy business, where she eased the pain of many individuals throughout the years. She was united in marriage to Jack Walter on May 12, 1978, at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg. After marriage they resided in Winslow, until moving to Apple River, Ill. where they have been for the past 25 years. Kim is survived by her husband Jack at home; her children: Sarah (Matt) Rothschadl of McConnell, IL, Hannah (Mario Gonzalez) Davis of Thorp, WI, and Jacob (Stephanie) Walter of Apple River; her grandchildren: Cole (Katelynn) Maddox, Logan and Zoey Maddox, Maximus Davis, Tiana, Mario Jr., and Ambrosio Gonzalez; Jackson, Ava, Payton, and Archie Walter; 3 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Carl (Shelly) Pahnke Jr., Calvin (Tamara) Pahnke, and Karen Deiter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother: Scotty in infancy. Kim proudly served as a volunteer firefighter in Winslow, IL, for 16 years. In her free time, she loved knitting, doing puzzles, and shopping with Laurie. Some of her fondest memories were when they rented a houseboat on the Mississippi for days at a time, enjoying the peace, quiet and fishing. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she always made sure they knew how proud she was of them. Kim was the type of person that would drop anything for anyone, no questions asked. Kim was the kind of friend, no matter the time or distance, it was like no time had passed. Coming home from work one night, many years ago, we saw the most amazing Northern Lights. We were young and dumb and didn't know what they were until later. She's seeing those lights up close now. Fly high my friend Mary Leiper
