Mary Stietz

Mary M. Stietz, age 63 of Gratiot, WI passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at SSM Health - Monroe Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born October 14, 1960 in Monroe, WI the daughter of Lavern and Marietta (Loeffelholz) Stietz. Mary was born and raised in Gratiot, WI where she lived her entire life and graduated from Black Hawk High School in South Wayne, WI. Mary is survived by her twin sister and best friend: Marie Stietz and their dogs Petey, Chloe, and Buddy of Gratiot; her siblings: Marlene (Chris) Tiesling of Appleton, WI; Paul (Lori) Stietz of Albany, WI, John Stietz of Edmond, WI, Roger (Deb) Stietz of Winslow, IL, Bruce (Carol) Stietz of Grayslake, IL, Robert (Sue) Stietz of Gratiot, William (Judy) Stietz of Gratiot; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters: Joan and Jane in infancy. Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot and was a former member of Rural Medical and Gratiot First Response. She was proud to be a part of "The Bag Ladies" that sewed welcome bags, wheel chair bags, and much more. She also worked as a helper for the Food Commodities Program for many years. Mary loved to play cards on Thursday night at the Browntown Bar and also played in numerous other card clubs in the area throughout the years. She also loved to spend time outside fishing, gardening, and raising goats. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot with Fr. Christian Valenzuela officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
