Lois Tyson Leahy, age 93, of Shullsburg, WI passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Mineral Point Health Services. She was born in Shullsburg on June 2, 1930, the daughter of Ernest and Evelyn (Tiffany) Tyson. Lois grew up in Shullsburg, attended Wardsville Grade School and graduated from Shullsburg High School. Lois was united in marriage to William Leahy on November 28, 1953, at St. Matthews Catholic Church Rectory, Shullsburg, WI. During their marriage they farmed in the Dunbarton area and raised six children. Lois was an active community member being involved in the Dunbarton 4H Club as a leader, St. Matthews Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, and Shullsburg Lion's Club. Lois's first job out of high school was as a bookkeeper at the Kleinpell Lumber Yard. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Bryne Agri Center, with friends Bob and Florence Byrne, and the Carousel Grain Elevator until retirement. After retirement, Lois enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school events, refinishing furniture, and camping with her husband Bill. Lois also enjoyed cross stitching quilts for her family members that will be cherished by each and every one of them. Bill and Lois retired from the farm and moved into a Victorian Home in Shullsburg, which Lois enjoyed renovating to its original beauty. Lois was loved for her wonderful wit and humor and will be missed by many. Lois is survived by her six children; Theresa Watts, East Troy, WI, Steve(Cathy) Leahy, Bagley, Wi, David(Roxanne)Leahy, Shullsburg, WI, Jeff (Bev) Leahy, Shullsburg, WI, Luann(Mike) Zimmerman, Verona, WI, Kathleen(Tom) Hughes, Stillman Valley, IL, Two Brothers: Keith Tyson, Robert (Kenn Saxton) Tyson, Two sisters-in-law: Isabelle Doyle and Joyce Tyson; 17 Grandchildren-Tiffany (Zack)Buell, Brian Watts, Rebecca(Vince) Schwarz-Loera, Jessie(Ben) Fortuna, Cody Schwarz, Alyson(Chad) Leahy, Scott Leahy, Ryan(Kelly) Leahy, Maureen Leahy, Greg(Katie) Leahy, Brianna Leahy, Patrick Zimmerman, Chris(Jeni) Zimmerman, Anna(Nate) Whitham, Ellen(Nick) Pinnola, Bridget(Zach) Wallace, Shannon (Jon) Sturdevant; 10 Great Grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Evelyn Tyson and her husband William Leahy. Also, two brothers; Wilbur Tyson and Floyd Tyson, and special friends, Margaret Spillane and Marge Lethlean. The family would like to give a special thank you to The Shullsburg Home, Mineral Point Health Services, and the St. Croix Hospice for the care Lois received as a resident in her later years. A visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at St. Matthews Catholic Church, Shullsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday April 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM in St. Matthews Catholic Church with a visitation prior to the funeral from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Shullsburg. A Rosary will be Prayed prior to the visitation on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 3:30 PM. Following the services, Friends and Family are invited to join in a Celebration of Life Luncheon. Memorials may be given in memory of Lois to St. Croix Hospice and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family.
