Charles Rees

Charles G. "Charlie" Rees, age 51 of rural Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14, 2024 in rural Dodgeville, WI. He was born July 21, 1972 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington, WI the son of Gordon and Lana (Wray) Rees. Charlie grew up in Darlington and graduated from Darlington High School. Charlie loved to be outdoors whenever he could, so much so that he took a job at Chestnut Mountain as a ski instructor for a few years. After high school, he attended Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, WI where he studied small engine repair. He moved to Amhurst, WI where he worked for a Marina installing boat engines. After doing that for six months he was ready to return home and started working at Full Boar Enterprises as a mechanist in Dodgeville. Eventually, he found a career that he loved at Forte in Argyle where he had worked for the past 20 years. Charlie is survived by his mother: Lana Rees of Shullsburg, WI; his partner: Gail Pink of rural Darlington; his bonus daughters: Mallory (Rob) McGuire and Kimberly Pink; one very special bonus granddaughter: Jordyn Norton; his siblings: Justin Rees of Stevens Point, WI and Lori (Wes) Myers of Miamisburg, OH; and his nieces and nephews: Tristan, Keegan, Kyle, and Emily. He was preceded in death by his father: Gordon Rees; and one brother: Jesse Rees. Charlie spent as much time outdoors as time allowed where he enjoyed fishing, hiking, hunting, cutting firewood, riding his motorcycle, and skiing. He loved to travel, especially out West and to Door County in northern Wisconsin, and always looked forward to his motorcycle trips with his brother Justin. Charlie was a collector of many things throughout the years and always found joy in the big and little treasurers he would find. If you knew Charlie, you knew that he never met a stranger, he could make anyone smile or laugh on any given day. He had a gentle, kind soul and was always willing to help out his friends and neighbors whenever they needed help. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Darlington (15691 County Rd. K, Darlington, WI 53530) with Rev. Nick McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. A visitation will follow from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Darlington.
