Fayella Jackson

Fayella Mae Jackson, age 97 of Darlington, WI formerly of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. She was born November 26, 1926, the daughter of Eli and Grace Metcalfe. She graduated from Dunn County School of Agriculture in Menomonie in 1944. She married Conrad Jackson on September 21, 1946, at the First Congregational Church in Menomonie. They bought a small house in Menomonie in March of 1947. It was added onto over the years, and they lived in the same house for 75 years. She came to live with her sister, Marian in 2021 and has resided there since. Fayella worked as a cashier at the Farmers Store, was the supervisor of Sandy Lee Sewing Factory, and was a secretary at Erickson's Drug Store all of which were in Menomonie. Fayella finally retired from working at the age of 85. Fayella and Conrad were best friends and did almost everything together. They enjoyed traveling, trap shooting, bowling, and shooting archery with their friends. They were not blessed with any children of their own but shared their love with children of family and friends. Fayella was a perfectionist with her many talents and crafts, including counted cross stitch, knitting, crocheting, and making wedding dresses. She was a very good cook and always enjoyed making meals and treats for her family. She treasured her friendships of Peggy Holms and Annette Nelson for many years. Fayella was a wonderful sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by many. Fayella is survived by her sister: Marian Seffrood; two foster children: David and Paul; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Jackson; her parents; one brother: Elon Metcalfe; and two sisters: Florence Michaletz and Dorothy Metcalfe. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. InSun Lee of Darlington United Methodist Church in Darlington officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie, WI on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
