Shirley Gray

Shirley Arlene (Raymond) Gray affectionately known to all as Shirley, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on December 5, 1936, in Willow Springs, Wisconsin, Shirley's vibrant spirit and warm heart touched many throughout her remarkable 86 years of life. Shirley's formative years in Darlington set the stage for a life full of laughter, love, and determination. A proud graduate of Darlington High School's class of 1955, she carried the lessons and friendships from those days throughout her entire life. Her education and upbringing laid a foundation for what would become a successful career as a business owner. After moving to Southern California, Shirley showcased her entrepreneurial spirit by becoming an owner-operator of her own business for over three decades. Her work ethic and passion for her business were evident to all who knew her. Even after leaving the sunny shores of Southern California for the bustling energy of Las Vegas, Shirley continued to work well into her 80's, a testament to her enduring drive and commitment. Family was the cornerstone of Shirley's life. She raised two sons, Brian, and Robert Gray. Who inherited their mother's strong will and compassionate nature. Shirley's joy multiplied with the birth of her grandson, Nathan Gray, who she adored with all her heart. Her role as a mother and grandmother was one, she cherished deeply, and the love she had for her family was immeasurable. Shirley's interests and hobbies were as colorful and diverse as her personality. She had a knack for bringing people together, often organizing weekly parties where friends would gather to play games and share in the camaraderie. Her laughter was a staple at these gatherings, as was her competitive spirit. Additionally, Shirley found great pleasure in playing bingo with her boyfriend, Joe. Joe was a big part of Shirley's life for the last decade and was by her side until the end. Shirley's life was a journey filled with moments of triumph, warmth, and an abundance of love. As we remember Shirley Arlene (Raymond) Gray, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life rich in experiences, and a life that left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories of her family, friends, and all who were graced by her presence. The Gray Family would like to thank Joe Tkach (boyfriend) and Mom's good friend Beverly Purdy for watching over and caring for her in the last two years of her life.
