Carolyn Gates

Carolyn J. Gates, age 73 of Darlington, WI passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at Lafayette County Manor in Darlington. She was born April 1, 1951 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Burdette and Lila (Heidenreich) Broshous. Carolyn lived in Stockton, IL and graduated from Warren High School in 1971. She later moved to Darlington in 1994 where she has resided since. Carolyn enjoyed her years of working at GreenCo Industries in Monroe, WI for many years. Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Christina Gobrecht of Richland Center, WI, and Valerie Gobrecht of Platteville, WI; and their adoptive mother: Trudy Gobrecht; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Allen Broshous and Edward Broshous; one sister: Shirley Coulthard; and Trudy's husband: Stan Gobrecht who passed away earlier this year. Carolyn enjoyed taking trips to the casino and socializing with all of her friends throughout the years. She adored all of her friends at the Lafayette Manor and always looked forward to playing bingo with them. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St. Darlington) with Fr. Milot officiating. A visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton, IL, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
