Karen A. Kittoe, age 82, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Verona, WI, with her daughter by her side. She was born October 3, 1942, in Shullsburg, the daughter of John "Lloyd" and Margaret (Fisher) Mulcahy. Karen grew up in Shullsburg and graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to N. Charles Kittoe on February 19, 1966, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Karen lived in Shullsburg her whole life while working as a clerk for several places: Kleinpell Lumber Company, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Jan's Variety Store, and Jackson's Confectionary. She also worked part time at the Shullsburg City Office and filled in as secretary at Shullsburg High School.

Karen is survived by her daughter: Pamela (Adam) Slonim of Verona; three grandchildren: Dylan Reilly, Brianna (Mike) Pachmayer and Jacob (Arianna LaCoursiere) Slonim; one brother: Dennis (Cheryl) Mulcahy of Shullsburg; sisters-in-law: Helyne (Jerry) Bausman of Belvidere, IL, and Mary Alice Mulcahy of Machesney Park, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; two brothers: Charles Richard Mulcahy, and John Robert Mulcahy; one sister: Mary Ellen Timpe; and sisters-in-law: Betty Kittoe and Dorothy Kittoe.

Karen was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Shullsburg for many years. In her free time, you could always find Karen with a book in her hand as she always loved to read. Her favorite thing to do was to support her grandchildren in whatever extra-curricular school event they had going on, always making sure they knew how proud she was of them.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Fr. Chris Gernetzke officiating. A visitation will be held January 18, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.

Those in attendance for the memorial service are invited to a luncheon following the service at the St. Matthews Catholic Church Gym.

A memorial fund has been established in Karen's name.

So many wonderful memories with this lady! She wasn’t the perfect mom, but she was the mom who was perfect for me. She ADORED her grandkids and oogled and awed over every one of their accomplishments. Fly high mom ~ miss you already.😘

Karen always loved to visit with people in the neighborhood. She was great at telling stories and had a contagious laugh and smile . We had so much fun with our neighborhood family events: Christmas Luminaries; Christmas Caroling; Garage Sales ; the incredible fireworks ; and the infamous Hot Dog Parties. Karen was one of the first to arrive at the events (helping with set up) and last to leave (enjoying the campfire). I will miss your waves and smiles as I walk my dog (Mattie) past your house. I do have one Question for you Karen . Is there a Casino in Heaven? I will miss you .

Karen and Charles were part of a racing group that went to Michigan International Raceway for NASCAR races. Karen was always the person you could count on to keep everybody smiling. Karen’s sense of humor was right up my alley. I’m pretty sure Joe and I roomed with Karen and Charles the first time I ever went to the big track. She welcomed me warmly and sincerely and I never forgot that. Our most sincere sympathy to you Pam and your family. To those who knew and loved Karen, I hope we can all agree, the world could use a few more of our kind of Karen’s!
