Obituary
Brigid “Brigie” Anne Ubersox, age 90 of Shullsburg, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin. She was born July 12, 1934, in Seymour Township, the daughter of Thomas J. Cavanaugh and Catherine M. (Carey) Cavanaugh. Brigie attended Shullsburg Public School. She was united with the Love of her Life to Robert “Bob” Laverne Ubersox on November 11, 1950, at St. Raphael Cathedral, Dubuque, Iowa. Brigie was a happy homemaker and full-time mother of 11 children. Bob and Brigie first farmed in Gratiot, then moved to Shullsburg Wisconsin and farmed for a total of 25 years.
Brigie is survived by her children: George “Butch” (Donna) Ubersox, Eugene “Gene” Ubersox (Karen), Daniel “Danny” (Tina) Ubersox, Andrew “Andy” (Kathy) Ubersox, Vickie (Joel) Groom, Bonnie (Dave) Kieler, Sally (Randy) Montgomery, all of Shullsburg. Margie (Rocky) Allen, Hanover, Illinois, and Kristy (Guppy) Allen, Scales Mound, Illinois. And by her 36 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, special niece Janet Harker and many other nieces and nephews.
Brigie was preceded in death by 2 sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Robert Ubersox on August 13, 1968, and Charles “Chuck” L Ubersox on July 30, 1999, and his wife Linda Ubersox April 6, 2003. Husband Robert “Bob” Leverne Ubersox May 18, 2013, Parents Thomas and Catherine Cavanaugh, infant siblings Thomas and Therese and sisters Mary Kay (Leverne) Wachter, Josephine (Martin) Coulthard, and Frances (Richard) Hagen and her special cousin Mary Alice Harty.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Church, and St. Matthew’s Altar and Rosary Society. Brigie loved to dance with Bob, play euchre with friends and family, Bingo, visit on the phone, cheer for the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers. She loved to cook and bake, especially for the holidays, and you never left her table hungry. She loved all her kids and her many grandkids and looked forward to the holidays when everyone got together and visited. And she loved going to sporting events to watch her kids and grandkids. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She will be so very sadly missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St, Shullsburg) with Fr. Chris Gernetzke officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at the church on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2:30 PM. The Erickson funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family. A special thank you for the love and care Brigid received at the Epione Pavilion, Cuba City. and a very special Thank You to the Love and Care she received at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin. She truly loved everyone there and was treated like Family! And also thank you to St Croix Hospice for the wonderful care for Brigid and helping her family through this difficult time.
